Help! i've gained 4lb in one day
the numbers
To gain a lb you need to consume a 3500 calorie surplus, ie 3500 calories more than your body uses. To gain 4lbs of weight you would need to eat 14000 calories more than the body uses. Add this to your normal calorie consumption and you can quickly see how difficult it would be to consume those amount of calories in a day!
salt
Fluid in the body fluctuates all the time, if you eat a high sodium calorie dense meal the night before, you will probably see a gain on the scales in the morning, don’t worry this is just a fluid and it will change as the sodium levels drop in the body.
carbs
No they are not the enemy! All carbs breakdown as sugar in the body, and stored as glycogen in your liver and muscles, this will cause weight to slightly increase and is absolutely normal.
hydration
Dehydration, in a dehydrated state your body will hold on to water, it’s a natural survival system. Drink water more frequently and stay hydrated.
time of the month?
Weight often increases during a woman’s period. Again usually due to fluid increases in the body due to certain hormones controlling sodium and fluid levels in the body.
