sacrifice

“Everybody wants to go to heaven, yet nobody wants to die!”

Have you ever heard the quote:

“Everybody wants to go to heaven, yet nobody wants to die!”

I heard this quote months ago and every so often it pops into my head… just for how dang cool it sounded when I heard it.

But what’s the significance and what is the meaning behind it? For me this quote  speaks of Sacrifice. If you want to hit your goals and achieve what you want in any facet of your life, then there will be some form of sacrifice.

Now let’s make the quote more tangible to a real life situation.  Take the religious connotations out and consider the word ‘Heaven’ in reference to fat loss.

“Everybody wants fat loss, yet nobody wants to sacrifice!”

For years I wanted to be fitter and leaner but what was I willing to do about it? Sweet FA!!

I didn’t want to give up alcohol, I didn’t want to give up my late night pizzas and kebabs. Nor did I really want to do any actual physical exertion. As a result I not only didn’t achieve what I wanted, I actually got steadily worse.

Fast forward to today and my life is very different, and none of this would have been possible without sacrifice.

Sometimes we have to give up a little to gain a lot.
