Our small groups coaching programmes offer an affordable way to have access to our team of personal trainers and state-of-the-art facility whilst working with a like-minded group of people and getting the results that you want.

We have tailored exercise and nutrition programs both for male and female, dedicated to either Fat Loss or Muscle Gain and Body Sculpting. So, no matter your fitness goals, we have a program designed specifically for you that can be delivered as part of our Small Group Training Program.

Small Group Personal Training Sessions

Our Small Group Personal Training Sessions are tailored-made by our team of personal trainers to target fat loss and muscle gain for both men and women.  We understand that different people have different goals, and that men and women burn fat and build muscle in very different ways.  So you can rest assured that your program will target the areas and struggles that you personally are facing.  From complete novice to the experienced individual whose training and progress may have stagnated, we can help!

Access to Our Studio

We understand that as part of your training you will want to do everything you can to further improve your results and that is why our Small Group Personal Training clients who sign up for at least 2 sessions per week, have weekend access to our studio or, for 3 sessions per week, gain anytime access which is unbeatable value!

This means that you’ll be able to come in outside of your SGPT sessions and continue with the training you have been coached with. Because this is a private coaching facility, you’ll find that the gym floor is quiet and you’ll be able to dive in without having to navigate any crowds.

Access to our BURN sessions

It is so important to keep your workouts varied and fun, and that is why all of our Small Group Personal Training clients who sign up for at least 2 sessions per week, have access to 2 of our BURN sessions per week or for 3 sessions per week unlimited access to all BURN sessions!

Keep your training varied and your motivation peaked with a mix of resistance, Hiit, cardio and conditioning workouts with a timetable of classes running in both the mornings and evenings.  The perfect complimentary training to add to your SGPT.

Nutrition Planning

When working towards a fitness goal, your nutrition is a big part of the equation to success and we will also work with you in this area - something many personal trainers aren’t able to do. After your initial assessment, we’ll send you a tailored nutrition plan which can help you see results.

Fit3D Body Scanning

Something you’ll find at no other gym in Barnstaple is a Fit3D Body Scanner, and it’s one of the reasons why clients love Absolute. Weight on the scales is only one way to measure success, and with our body scanner, you’ll be able to see your results and compare the changes you’ve made. With scans throughout your programme, you’ll be able to see how your body composition, measurements, weight and more changes.

Support

Our trainers aren’t just there for you through the good times, and we know that it can be invaluable to have someone to lean on when your motivation wanes, or just to ask a quick question too when you aren’t sure about something. As well as giving you the chance to reach out whenever you want, you’ll receive a weekly check-in form which helps us to monitor your progress and highlight any potential hindrances as early as possible. We also have a private Facebook group for all of our clients where questions can be asked, suggestions made and we post advice frequently.

SGPT provides focused gym sessions with a personal trainer, so you get all of the knowledge, support and experience of a trained professional in a small group environment.

Many clients who are nervous or lack confidence in the gym environment prefer SGPT because of the camaraderie of the group or because it has less intensity than that of a 1:1 PT session.

To make you feel more comfortable and to enhance your training experience, we will ensure that we match you with a SGPT session that will suit your training plan and personality.

All Personal Training clients recieve personalised assessments and nutrition plans to help you to achieve your personal goals.

What do I get when I sign up for Small Group Personal Training? +

When you start your personal training journey with us, you’ll get an initial assessment where you can come in, meet our trainers and take a look around our facility.

From there, you and your coach will discuss the merits of a commitment to 1, 2 or 3 SGPT training sessions per week, depending on your personal requirements and goals.

We will develop a personalised nutrition plan for you with recommendations on Macros (dont worry, we will explain all and make it as easy as possible for you) and provide easy meal planning ideas and recipes.

As part of your 1:1 assessments, you will have access to our state of the art Fit3D™ Body Scanner, which will weigh and record all of your body mass and postural measurements so that each month we will be able to see, with no question or estimation what so ever, the progress that you have made.  No tape measures and bathroom scales here!

Also included in our SGPT packages, you will have access to our BURN classes which run throughout the week and at various times.  Please see here for more details.

Last but not least, SGPT clients have exclusive access to our gym during the weekends/anytime depending on the level of membership. More information can be found on the pricing table.

How quickly will I see results? +

All personal results will vary depending on a number of environmental factors.  By this, we mean your personal goals, your availability to train, your previous and current body composition, how disciplined you are with your nutrition plan etc.

To give a very broad idea of what results could be expected from 2 sessions per week following all of our advice:

Week 1/2:  Your strength and stamina will have improved.

Week 3/4:  Clothing should be fitting slightly differently.

Week 5/6: Fit3D™ Body Scan will be showing significant composition changes.

Week 7/8:  You will be able to see significant changes in your body shape.  Let the compliments commence!

How will I know if my training is working? +

Measuring your progress in terms of fitness has always been a huge challenge.  Tape measurements can vary depending on who is doing the measuring and if the same position on the body is being recorded exactly, electronic scales shift and will not always be 100% calibrated and selfies are near on impossible to take at the same angle, with the same lighting and from a front, side and rear view.

But fear not!  We have the solution, and it is available for you to use as part of your SGPT program at no additional charge!

For over 10 years we have been the only facility within 61 miles of Barnstaple that have a state of the art 3D body scanner from Fit3D™. This amazing piece of equipment will measure and weigh every aspect of your physique showing gains and losses in all aspects of weight, body composition, water retention, posture and much much more.

Do I need to be able to commit to the same day and time each week? +

We run a full timetable of SGPT sessions and you are free to choose the training sessions that best suit your schedule.

If you would like to train with similar like-minded individuals that have similar goals, we can match you with a group that will suit your training plan and personality.  However, don't be put off if you are only able to commit to certain days or times as we’ve seen people join as strangers and soon become firm friends for life.

How long is a Small Group Personal Training Session? +

All Personal Training sessions last 45-60 minutes and include time to speak with your coach individually, receive personal advice and bring any concerns that you may have to the table.

We will never cut and run from a Training Session and so if you require any personal attention before, during or after your session, please don't hesitate to ask.  If you are able to send us an email prior to your session, we will make sure that we have reserved a space dedicated to speaking with you one on one.

This is your experience and we are here to cheer you on and pick you up whenever you need us, and even when you don't.

Do I need to be fit to join Small Group Private Training? +

The whole purpose of a Personal Trainer in the traditional sense is to provide clients with advice, support, knowledge and encouragement to perform exercises safely, with good form and within their capabilities.

Therefore, clients with zero fitness experience, stamina or knowledge are the perfect fit for Personal Training.  Even if you are in a group with more experienced members, your PT will show you how to execute the same exercises and use the same equipment, but at a pace and level of difficulty that is matched to your experience and ability.

There is no safer way to start your exercise regime than with a qualified Personal Trainer to make sure that you are exercising safely and effectively.

How many people will be in the group? +

There will be no more than 6 people in your session.  This is so that our Personal Trainers are able to oversee and support each member's training safely and with the highest level of dedication.

During your group sessions, your programme will be displayed on a TV screen so you are able to work independently, but your coach will always be with you every step of the way too.

What should I wear? +

As long as you are comfortable and able to move with no restrictions, you are free to wear any workout, exercise or fitness based clothing you choose.

Many clients wear a hoodie to do the warm-up and commence their training, and this can be useful for when you have finished your training session during cool down and when leaving the gym to keep your muscles warm.  Otherwise, a t-shirt or vest, jogging bottoms, leggings or shorts are all perfectly suitable.

For new gym-goers, we understand how intimidating it can be to feel that you may not have the right uniform, look as good as you think a gym-goer might, or may feel self-conscious wearing slightly form-fitting clothing.

Please take our word for it that you do not need to feel this way at Absolute!

We are not an open gym, we are a private facility for Personal Training only, all of our clients are exactly like you, joined for the same reasons you have and you will fit in perfectly!  We promise.

How many Small Group Private Training Sessions will I need? +

Personal Training is exactly that, personal, and how many sessions you will need will depend completely on your goals.

If your goal is fat loss, you may require a longer program than if your goal is to gain knowledge about the gym environment and grow your confidence to be able to independently use gym equipment safely and effectively.

Clients will generally train with us for at least 3 months to achieve their initial goals.  Many will then set new short term and long terms goals with us.  We have no minimum commitment to the length of your membership, we are simply here to support you for as long as you need us.

We are very proud of the fact that our client retention rate is exceptionally high, as this is a direct indicator of how effective and successful our training programs are.  We are a family and our members are as welcoming and encouraging as our PTs are.

Is Small Group Personal Training Expensive? +

SGPT is the most cost-effective way to start your personal journey towards the healthy lifestyle you're looking to achieve.  This is because you not only gain all of the experience, knowledge and support of our fully qualified PTs, but you also have access to all of our BURN classes, Fit3D body scanner, nutritional planning and advice, accountability and complimentary gym access (dependant on which SGPT membership you choose).
