Thanks to the nature of our gym, you’ll soon get to know our team of personal trainers who work alongside you to get results. We will be your motivation on the days when you don’t have any. We will sit with you when you feel as though you need support. We will cheer for you when you succeed.

All of our coaches are not only amazing personal trainers but equipped with a range of knowledge which means we can help you with any issue you present.

During your initial assessment, you’ll be able to talk about the problems you may be facing and any injuries you may have that are holding you back, and we’ll factor this into your plan. We won’t ignore them, we will work with you at your own pace to improve and overcome them.

What Do I Get?

We pride ourselves on being a centre that goes above and beyond, and when you start one-on-one personal training at our facility, you’ll experience everything we have to offer.

One-on-One Training Sessions

Our one-to-one training sessions are tailored-made by our team of personal trainers on a client-by-client basis and so, your training programme will be unique to you and you alone. What we can tell you, is they won’t be one-hour sweat-fests with a coach yelling at you and belittling you, but calm and enjoyable sessions where your trainer will educate you and motivate you to be better than you were the day before.

Anytime access to Our Studio

We encourage all of our private clients to make use of our studio when not working with their trainer, and so you’ll have full access to our space. This means that you’ll be able to come in outside of your coached sessions, pick up your plan and get to work. Because this is a private coaching facility, you’ll find that the gym floor is quiet and you’ll be able to dive in without having to navigate any crowds.

Nutrition Planning

When working towards a fitness goal, your nutrition is a big part of the equation to success and we will also work with you in this area, something many personal trainers aren’t able to do. After your initial assessment, we’ll send you a tailored nutrition plan which can help you see results. These aren’t diets, but scientific plans that’ll guarantee results. Throughout your time at Absolute we’ll work with you to improve your nutrition, and readjust your plan if needed - we’ll even offer recipe recommendations if you ask!

Fit3D Body Scanning

Something you’ll find at no other gym in Barnstaple is a Fit3D Body Scanner, and it’s one of the reasons why clients love Absolute. Weight on the scales is only one way to measure success, and with our body scanner, you’ll be able to see your results and compare the changes you’ve made. With scans throughout your programme, you’ll be able to see how your body composition, measurements, weight and more changes.

24-Hour Support

We encourage open and honest dialogue between all of our trainers and clients, and part of that means you’ll have access to 24-hour support should you need it. Our trainers aren’t just there for you through the good times, and we know that it can be invaluable to have someone to lean on when your motivation wanes, or just to ask a quick question too when you aren’t sure about something. As well as giving you the chance to reach out whenever you want, you’ll receive a weekly check-in form which helps us to monitor your progress and highlight any potential hindrances as early as possible. We also have a private Facebook group for all of our clients where questions can be asked, suggestions made and we post advice frequently.

The education and advice we offer doesn’t stop there. Throughout your time with us, you’ll have access to our own education booklets covering everything from nutrition information to what the healthiest item on the Burger King menu is! One to One Personal Training focuses on your own personal goals and every element of your training and support will be tailor made for you with fitness programs, nutrition guidance, techniques and support all written for you to reach your long term fitness goals.

One to One clients vary from complete novices looking to build confidence to elite athletes looking to reach new heights with their personal fitness goals.  You may be recovering from an injury or looking to spice up your gym routine with new techniques.  All fitness and nutrition goals can be reached with the dedicated one to one support and advice from your designated coach who will be there with you every step of the way.

Our team of professional fitness and nutrition coaches will all be here to support, advise and cheer you along on your fitness journey.  This isn't joining a gym, this is joining a family!


What do I get when I sign up for One to One Personal Training? +

When you sign up, one of our team will get in touch with you to arrange a private consultation where you can talk about your goals, take a tour of our private gym and also ask us any questions you may have.

We will develop a personalised nutrition plan for you based on you, your goals and your personal situation.

As part of your 1:1 assessments, you will have access to our state of the art Fit3D™ Body Scanner, which will weigh and record all of your body mass and postural measurements so that each month we will be able to see, with no question or estimation what so ever, the progress that you have made.  No tape measures and bathroom scales here!

Last but not least, One to One clients have exclusive anytime access to our gym so you can work out in our state of the art facility whenever you wish.

How quickly will I see results? +

Every journey is different, but we understand that some people don’t want to train with us forever. When you start, you’ll be signed up on a rolling monthly programme and when you are ready, you’ll be able to leave at any time. Alternatively, if we find that private coaching isn’t for you we can look at the other ways we could support your journey.

All personal results will vary depending on a number of environmental factors.  By this, we mean your personal goals, your availability to train, your previous and current body composition, how disciplined you are with your nutrition plan etc.

To give a very broad idea of what results could be expected from 2 sessions per week following all of our advice:

Week 1/2:  Your strength and stamina will have improved.

Week 3/4:  Clothing should be fitting slightly differently.

Week 5/6: Fit3D™ Body Scan will be showing significant composition changes.

Week 7/8:  You will be able to see significant changes in your body shape.  Let the compliments commence!

Please note that we cannot guarantee any specific results until we have assessed you and your goals.  If you would like us to advise you on what could be expected please ask our Personal Trainer when you come in for your first assessment and we will be happy to advise you.

How will I know if my training is working? +

Measuring your progress in terms of fitness has always been a huge challenge.  Tape measurements can vary depending on who is doing the measuring and if the same position on the body is being recorded exactly, electronic scales shift and will not always be 100% calibrated and selfies are near on impossible to take at the same angle, with the same lighting and from a front, side and rear view.

But fear not!  We have the solution, and it is available for you to use as part of your program at no additional charge!

For over 10 years we have been the only facility within 61 miles of Barnstaple that have a state of the art 3D body scanner from Fit3D™. This amazing piece of equipment will measure and weigh every aspect of your physique showing gains and losses in all aspects of weight, body composition, water retention, posture and much much more.

Do I need to be able to commit to the same day and time each week? +

Our coaches are available every day for One to One personal training sessions.

As part of your consultation, we will be able to advise you on our PTs availability and if you are only able to commit to certain days or times, or if you work shifts for example and so do not have a fixed diary, we can work alongside you to ensure that our PTs will be available at times that best suit you.

How long is a Personal Training Session? +

All Personal Training sessions last 45-60 minutes and include time to speak with your coach individually, receive personal advice and bring any concerns that you may have to the table.

We will never cut and run from a Training Session and so if you require any personal attention before, during or after your session, please don't hesitate to ask.  If you are able to send us an email prior to your session, we will make sure that we have reserved a space dedicated to speaking with you one on one.

This is your experience and we are here to cheer you on and pick you up whenever you need us, and even when you don't.

What should I wear? +

As long as you are comfortable and able to move with no restrictions, you are free to wear any workout, exercise or fitness based clothing you choose.

Many clients wear a hoodie to do the warm-up and commence their training, and this can be useful for when you have finished your training session during cool down and when leaving the gym to keep your muscles warm.  Otherwise, a t-shirt or vest, jogging bottoms, leggings or shorts are all perfectly suitable.

For new gym-goers, we understand how intimidating it can be to feel that you may not have the right uniform, look as good as you think a gym-goer might, or may feel self-conscious wearing slightly form-fitting clothing.

Please take our word for it that you do not need to feel this way at Absolute!

We are not an open gym, we are a private facility for Personal Training only, all of our clients are exactly like you, joined for the same reasons you have and you will fit in perfectly!  We promise.

How many Private Training Sessions will I need? +

Your programme and training plan can be however long you want it to be. We understand that sometimes people wish to get in shape for a certain event and if that is the case we can work with you to try and get the results you want in your timeframe. For others, it’s about the journey and you are welcome to stay and train with us for as long as you want.

If your goal is fat loss, you may require a longer program than if your goal is to gain knowledge about the gym environment and grow your confidence to be able to independently use gym equipment safely and effectively.

Clients will generally train with us for at least 3 months to achieve their initial goals.  Many will then set new short term and long terms goals with us.  We have no minimum commitment to the length of your membership, we are simply here to support you for as long as you need us.

We are very proud of the fact that our client retention rate is exceptionally high, as this is a direct indicator of how effective and successful our training programs are.  We are a family and our members are as welcoming and encouraging as our PTs are.

Is Personal Training Expensive? +

We understand that for many, budget is a deciding factor and we will work with you to find a solution that will give you the results you want within a budget that you can afford. As each of our plans are entirely personalised, we prefer to have a consultation with you where the price is something we can discuss together.

One to One is the most effective way to achieve your personal goals.  This is because your program is absolutely focused upon you and your objectives.  You not only gain all of the experience, knowledge and support of our fully qualified PTs, but you also have access to our Fit3D body scanner, nutritional planning and advice, accountability and complimentary gym access.

Because we are not an open gym facility, our prices may appear to be quite expensive, however, when you compare our services to that of a traditional gym membership providing Personal Training, our costs are incredibly good value for money.
