What is body composition?

Using full body composition rather than using simple BMI calculations or relying purely on weight scales.  Body stat is for more accurate at measuring the amount of body fat. Body stat composition allows us to gather detailed analysis of exactly what total body weight comprises in terms of muscle, fat and fluid.

Measuring fluid is essential for the highly trained athlete or health conscious individuals. Body stat offers consistent reliable data to measure hydration levels in every setting. Body stat measures intracellular and extracellular water in litres and gives an ideal range based on age, height, gender and weight.

What your hormones could be telling you

Cortisol is commonly known as the stress hormone. When we are under stress cortisol is secreted which activates fat storage enzymes in the cells. This can have a negative effect on the body especially for the individual looking to drop fat. Reducing stress and knowing how your body deals with stress can help you become leaner.

Some will reach for a glass of wine or a beer to help them relax. Alcohol especially beer has estrogenic properties and will basically stop your fat burning. Caffeine and refined sugars will cause havoc on cortisol levels, which can make good sleep near impossible.

Insulin - is increased in response to increased sugar in the body. Too many refined carbohydrates in particular will cause high insulin levels and can increase the risk of other health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and much more.

Thyroid – Controls metabolic rate, when the thyroid gland has impaired function it has a detrimental effect on metabolic rate. A 1% drop in function can lead to a 6% drop in metabolic rate. Keeping the thyroid healthy is essential for consistent and healthy fat loss.
